A photograph lets us see where someone stopped to look. It might be the last patch of sunlight on a wall, a road after rain, or a corner of a room they know well. A painting or drawing can bring us closer to how someone sees, through the colors they choose and the details they keep.

I’d like to make room for more of that in SineDay. We’re inviting you to send your own original artwork or photographs for consideration as daily background pictures in the app.

Where a picture can take us

I want people to write more. Often, writing begins with something we notice. A picture brings a place to mind, reminds us of a conversation, or gives us a detail we want to describe. We follow that thought and find we have something to say.

The pictures we encounter in SineDay can be part of that beginning. When someone opens the app to write, your image could be what catches their attention. They may see something different from what drew you to it, or notice a detail you hadn’t given much thought to.

A stretch of water might bring back someone’s childhood afternoons by the shore. Someone else might imagine visiting a place they’ve never been. Your picture gives each of them a starting point. They get to follow the thought it brings to mind, and the writing that follows belongs to them.

This invitation is a way to bring more of the community into that exchange. Your contribution could be a piece you’ve just finished or a photograph you’ve kept returning to. Perhaps it shows somewhere familiar, or an idea you wanted to put into color and shape. We’d like to see what has held your attention.

Sharing your work

Email your own original artwork or photograph to mysine@sineday.app.

You’re welcome to include a few words about why you picked the image and which of SineDay’s 18 days it represents for you. That connection can come from the subject, the feeling of the picture, or what was happening when you made it. Both the explanation and the choice of day are optional.

If your submission is selected, we’ll send you forms to arrange permission before sharing your image and any accompanying story with the SineDay community.

If your work is featured, you’ll receive three free months of SineDay Premium as a thank-you for contributing.

I’m looking forward to seeing the places, details, and ideas you choose to share. Your picture may reach someone whose day looks very different from yours. It can offer them a moment to pause, look a little closer, and put their own experience into words.

Your perspective belongs in the conversation. Share your thoughts or suggest a future blog post at mysine@sineday.app. We’d love to hear from you.

No right way to feel. Just a place to begin.
